A totally new Waiheke Experience! - Tasty Morsels Tour

This is essentially a morning tour but with enough notice we can book it at any time. To join this tour you need to book in advance and catch the 9am ferry from Auckland. The concept is to give you a taste of the true and diverse character of Waiheke.
 
We will start Rangihoua OEstate where we will celebrate extra virgin, the olive oil which can revolutionise our health and well-being, enliven our palates, and warm our hearts. The tastes embody the simplicity and purity of the Waiheke soil. Olive oil is a nutritional marvel as well as a gastronomic joy in that it also keeps its distinctive, complex flavour and aroma intact, with built-in, health-giving nutrients to keep it stable.
 
Simply stated it is one of the greatest, most versatile foods ever known - and tastes utterly marvelous too. After tasting the oils you will explore how herbs, spices and other seasonings can add a real zing to various dishes.
 
Our second stop will either be Dellow's Distillery or the Te Matuku Bay Oyster shop. If oysters are the order of the day then we will head to a scenic spot to enjoy a tray of Waiheke's most succulent treats.
Dellow's distil on Waiheke Island using local fruits and products and pure and soft natural rain making the finished product smoother with a wide flavour and taste profile. Most things are done the old way by hand using only fresh and organic ingredients without the use chemical preservatives or additives Here you will sample a selection of the resulting fine Vodka, flavored Vodkas, Gin, Limoncello, handcrafted liqueurs and Eau du Vie.
 
We will then head to Peacock Sky for a wine lasting with a food pairing
The modern "art" of food pairing is a relatively recent phenomenon, fostering an industry of books and media with guidelines for pairings of particular foods and wine. The main concept behind pairings is that certain elements (such as texture and flavor) in both food and wine react differently to each other and finding the right combination of these elements will make the entire dining experience more enjoyable.
The most basic element of food and wine pairing is understanding the balance between the "weight" of the food and the weight (or body) of the wine. From there a food and wine pairing can also take into consideration the sugar, acid, alcohol and tannins of the wine and how they can be accentuated or minimized when paired with certain types of food.
 
After an exciting morning it will be time to return to the ferry, stop for lunch, or further explore Waiheke Island..
The cost of this tour is $189 excluding lunch and has a minimum number of 3.
